See email thread http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.haskell.cafe/100652 : the 32-bit platform doesn't work with native 64-bit libraries, which are aplenty, while the converse combination works fine.

I will add notes to the web page to let users know that if they are using macports or brew, they need to use the same arch. as they've set those to.
