cabal install doesn't get happy

Reported by: Neil Mitchell Owned by: nibro
Priority: trivial Milestone: Blue Sky
Component: parser Version: 1.9.x
Keywords: Cc:

haskell-src-exts has an implicit dependency on happy for the parser. If happy isn't already installed then cabal install haskell-src-exts doesn't work, it would be great if this could be fixed. This problem has shown up for real users trying to install both derive and hlint - failing when installing haskell-src-exts because of the lack of happy.

Not sure how you fix this with Cabal, but someone on the cabal list might know.

I've now listed happy in the Build-depends field, as opposed to just in the Build-tools field. I hope this solves the problem. Case hopefully closed.

That really didn't solve the problem, or rather it introduced a completely different one. I'm tempted to think this is a bug in cabal rather than in HSE, since I *do* list a dependency on happy, in the Build-tools field.
